Mt. Wilson Mega Loop (219km)

I finally did it!

For a long while now, I have been wanting to do a loop of Camp 9 and Mt Wilson, starting and ending in Santa Clarita–a route that I call the Mt. Wilson Mega Loop. The loop covers a distance of 219km, and over 4km of climbing. It features a short climb up to Camp 9, a much longer climb to Mt. Wilson via Angeles Crest Highway, some beautiful roads through Angeles National Forest, and a fast descent down Aliso Canyon Road into Acton.

It’s an all-day affair.

As you can see from the photo above, for this ride, I packed light–just a couple of 650ml water bottles, a Lezyne Micro Caddy, and some lights, along with an assortment of gels, waffles, and hydration tabs stuffed in my jersey pockets. There are several points along this route to refill the water bottles:

  • Camp 9
  • Crescenta Valley Skate Park
  • Ranger Station @ Mt. Wilson Redbox Road
  • Monte Cristo Fire Station
  • Acton Market

Here’s the Strava activity.
